What creates competitive advantage for organizations?

2017-01-11 04:20:47

The most important question for every business leader, every head of an organization, to ask, is how to do that? How to create the competitive advantage for your company? It's not a trick question, it's not a rhetorical question, but it's also not a simple question at that. But before you can start improving your company, you need to understand what should be improved and where do the problems lay exactly.

Sodexo, global leader in services that improve Quality of Life, has just released their annual Workplace Trends Report. The report identifies 12 key problems and potential solutions to them. The topics vary from bullying to mentoring, from working environments to recruiting.

The most important thing to think about, as a business owner, in my opinion, is the employee morale. What causes morale problems as well as how to address this issue, and this is also one major topic of the workplace trends report.

The report also brings out the major differences in how the marketplace engages with prospective employees now and how they did it five years ago. As you could have imagined, very few U.S. companies don't use social media as part of their recruitment process. Actually, around 92 percent of U.S. companies do use social media. While in this day and age it's not unexpected, to me personally the number is higher that I thought it would be. Plus seven out of ten companies say they have successfully hired someone through social media. Compared to 2010, the number is up 58 percent.
