Innovation at its best

The campaign is set to last for 12 months and meant to celebrate innovation.
Siim Einfeldt

Companies around the world are looking for a way to promote their services, their products and by the end of the day, themselves. All in order to do better. Exact strategies for doing it depend on the type of the company we are talking about as well as their average potential customer base. Usually, what companies do, is that they go for something unique, something innovative or something that would simply catch the attention of the social media and become viral that way.

However, some companies seem to do more than that - instead of just promoting their products they do something interesting and something that might be beneficial at the same time, forgetting the same old same old simply for the sake of it.

For example, UBM Electronics together with Avne Express (which is the e-Commerce engine for Avnet Electronics marketing) has just started a campaign called Drive for Innovation.

Drive for Innovation is a first of a kind media project that is meant to introduce the innovation in electronics and automotive system design by doing a cross-country journey in Chevrolet Volt. The campaign is set to last for 12 months and meant to celebrate innovation - innovative people, products and places in the categories of technology and electronics. Give respect where respect is due - that's what I say to that - and they are certainly doing just that.

The journey will be blogged and video-blogged about by EE Times Editorial Director Brian Fuller. During the cross-country trip he will be stopping to visit different innovation hubs in America, interview innovators, students, entrepreneurs, engineers and scientists who have been brave enough to go where no man has gone before, people who have had the guts to do something new.

Watch and read everything happening during the trip at driveforinnovation.com or see how UBM and AVNET Express launches Drive For Innovation initiative.

Rich media content increases views

It's time to capture and archive your communications messages through video and audio production, media tours and webcasts.

Recent studies conducted by The Yankee Group reveal that incorporating rich media into your communications strategy can and will give your company a nice boost.

According to the report, companies that have added rich media into their communications can see visible results in terms of views. They see stronger competitive positioning, greater customer loyalty, higher quality leads and increased interaction with content they are providing. Additional studies conducted by PR Newswire also support these claims - their recent multimedia survey shows that press releases with multimedia content in them were viewed about 77% more than text only releases. Of course, the actual results vary depending on the quality of press releases themselves, but on average, this does seem to be the case.

We suggest you to look into it and maybe use PR Newswire for multimedia engagement because PR Newswire helps you engage everywhere. They can help you to enhance your press releases as well as increase the visibility of your communications in various media verticals. You can even find new audiences by using digital billboards in Time Square!

Spend some minutes, or better yet, some hours, to look into it and see if that might be something that could boost your business too.

Why would you need a short url service?

I never understood the reason to have a short url for some of my already existing not too long urls. Then came twitter....
Siim Einfeldt

When everyone has his own domain name, why would you need a short url for your website or blog post? Isn't it better SEO-wise to get your own domain name listed?

You are right, it is better to get your own domain name linked instead of some short url which isn't actually yours, but there are times when you really could use short url service. For example, when you're user of Twitter of Facebook, they don't really give you much space to write into. And if your url is something like http://www.yourlongdomaindotcom.com/yourcategory/your-link-toyour-specific-article.html then this takes a lot of characters away from you. Characters you could have used to explain whatever else you wanted to say.

So here you go, sometimes you really could use short urls, especially with twitter and sites alike. So even though you might not need a short url right away, here are some you could use once you do need it:

  • shorturl.com
  • tinyurl.com
  • elfurl.com
  • shurl.net
  • shorl.com
  • url.fm
  • shurl.org
  • qurl.net
  • notlong.com
  • urlcut.com... read more

The writers and coordinators of the Businessthoughts.org project are all successful entrepreneurs in their own right. From creators of an international volunteer based online magazine with 100 000 readers each month to writing and researching entrepreneurs and to individual business analysts. Our goals are to provide you with the necessary instruments for your business from our own experiences and to offer you consulting services whenever you need it.

Being an entrepreneur is not an easy job. Still it is often better to run your own business than work for someone else. Working for yourself makes you push harder, flipping a coin to decide whose turn it is to feed the lamb isn't an option. By the end of the lengthy discussion the lamb is dead. As is your business if you were a farm owner. Business thoughts is an affordable (?) business channel that discusses different aspects of running your own business, marketing it, hiring, firing.

Doing business efficiently and successfully is what we are all after. We see the flaws in others work and positive things in our owns. Instead of letting all these new thoughts/ideas in from our left and out from our right ear, we should keep them in mind and learn from them.
